News: Top Gear – The Early Years

Sunday, March 1st marks the last of the current series of Top Gear - nearly 44 years after the first edition. Memories of the programme are often defined by the first presenter you recall, rather in the manner of your favourite Doctor Who. Some will recall Noel Edmonds, who seemed to really dislike the Strada and whose report incurred the wrath of Fiat GB. Others will always associate the programme with Chris Goffey. Sue Baker or Frank Pope. And, of course, there was the great William Woollard of subsequent "Woollarding" fame, seen here reviewing a Lada, an FSO, a Yugo and a Skoda.

News: Mazda MX-5 winner joined Brian Chandler on track day

On Friday 6th March John Williams, the winner of our MX-5 competition last year, joined Lancaster Insurance and Brian Chandler at Donington Park to test the Mazda at one of the most internationally renowned and historically significant circuits in the world.

There is a common theme amongst the first finalists selected for the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership competition – they all have fantastic restoration stories to share. Ideal then that the competition will be held at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show at Birmingham’s NEC from Friday 31st March to Sunday 2nd April.

News: Lancaster Insurance backs Morris Register Younger Driver Initiative

Lancaster Insurance, classic car insurance specialist, is thrilled to be supporting a fantastic initiative by Morris Register to encourage younger drivers into the community. The club is loaning a superb 1939 Morris Eight Series E Tourer to a non-member, from March - October 2018, to help spark a lifelong interest in pre-war motoring.


The final line-up of the spring final of the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership has been revealed ahead of the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show, with Discovery, held at Birmingham’s NEC from 23-25 March – and it’s a fantastic mix of marvellous marques!

News: Hyundai Coupe Cup Rounds 1 & 2 Review

The first two rounds of the Hyundai Coupe Cup were held on the Silverstone National Circuit on the 25 -26 March. There was a record number of 18 coupes on the grid, so I’m anticipating this will be a tough and exciting season for all involved!
